Library Partners

THANK YOU

The LRC's Bram Fischer Library received a holiday gift in late 2008 from legal publishers in Canada. Due to funding constraints, the library had been forced to cancel its longstanding subscriptions to all foreign journals and loose-leaf publications. As most of our constitutional litigation relies heavily on Canadian, U.S. and other foreign materials, not having access to up-to-date foreign jurisprudence would have been a noticeable setback for our lawyers.

After contacting Robin Sully from the Canadian Bar Association, who has always been very supportive of the LRC's work, she put us in contact with Elizabeth Campbell, a barrister in Canada who used to be an intern in the LRC's Durban Office. Elizabeth immediately took up the challenge and LexisNexis Canada, Canada Law Book, and Carswell Canada all agreed to supply the LRC with subscriptions to the cancelled materials free of charge.

Our deepest gratitude and thanks go out to Robin, Elizabeth, LexisNexis Canada, Canada Law Book, Carswell Canada and others who assisted in securing this generous offer.

We hope that legal publishers in other countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia or others, may follow suit.
