2009 11 12 'Hyun-Jung Kim appointed LRC Development Director'

It is with great pleasure that the we announce the appointment of Ms Hyun-Jung Anna Kim as Director of Development at the Legal Resources Centre (LRC).

Hyun-Jung is a lawyer who practiced at the Bar in New York and Illinois, USA. Hyun-Jung first started working for the LRC in April 2008. She is currently completing the Programme for Management Development at the University of Pretoria's Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).

Hyun-Jung graduated from Oberlin College with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature in 1996. After spending a year teaching in Madurai, India, she worked as a legal assistant at a Wall Street law firm. She graduated from Cornell Law School in 2003 and then joined law firm Sidley Austin LLP in New York. She clerked for the Honourable Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo at the Constitutional Court of South Africa in 2004 and interned at Mvula Trust in Johannesburg. She then spent three years with law firm Mayer Brown LLP in their Chicago and Hong Kong offices before joining her husband, a public interest lawyer, in Johannesburg.

The position of Director of Development at the LRC is intended to increase the synergies among the areas of work of our Donor Liaison, the Development Officer and the Communications Officer, and between them and the rest of the organisation, to further the long-term development and sustainability of the LRC.

As of October 1, 2009, Hyun-Jung has overseen the work of the Donor Liaison (Ms Annette Reed), the Development Officer (Ms Moleshiwe Magana) and the Communications Officer (Ms Adelline Malema). She is also a part of the LRC's Executive Committee. The LRC warmly welcomes Hyun-Jung to her new post.
